For much of the year California is influenced by a high pressure system off the Pacific coast. This system results in generally light northerly winds, beautiful sunny days, smooth flying, and bad visibility. This picture was taken just north of San Francisco from 7,500 feet in early March, on a day when the sea level pressure was over 30.30".
